Rommel had been defeated in November 1942, and the Invasion of Italy took place in September 1943. By this time, the Allies probably also had the upper hand in the Mediterranean. There were numerous convoys operating througout the Med, from Alexandria to Gibraltar and the USA, as well as other serving Malta, Augusta, Naples, Bari etc. Mjroots (talk) 14:38, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
